Today, on the blog, I wanted to share the importance of having an engagement session. I've talked to so many people about them so I want to share WHY you should consider having engagement photos right here on the blog! A lot of couples want to have them, and others rather not. I've been asked about why it's a must with my wedding collections simply because couples can't see how it will benefit them. So, I'm going to shed light on why an engagement session is a vital part of your Tierney Riggs Photography wedding experience!
1. We Get to Know Each Other SO MUCH BETTER!
The best way I get to know my "TR Couples" is by having an engagement session. I'll get a feel for how comfortable you are behind the camera, and you'll get a feel for how I'll direct you on your wedding day when it comes to capturing all the good moments! You'll learn how I pose you and interact with you. I like to view the engagement session as a practice before the wedding. by having an engagement session, you guys are going to be pros by the time the wedding gets here! The engagement session also gives me the opportunity to get to know the two of you better, prior to the wedding. By checking out my website and blog, my clients are able to get a great feel for who I am as a person, but typically I don't get the opportunity to find out about my clients in that same way. The engagement session makes us so much more comfortable with one another.
2. You Are Able to Get Comfortable in Front of the Camera
The engagement session, gives you and your fiancé the opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera prior to the wedding. I personally, don't love being photographed. I feel awkward in front of the camera. Your engagement session, serves as an ice breaker for this! None of my couples so far, have ever modeled professionally, and THAT'S OK! I'll be there to lead you, guide you, and direct you every step of the way. The engagement session will help you to get used to how I shoot before your special wedding day.
3. You Get to Document This Beautiful Season of Life
Having an engagement session gives you the opportunity to document this sweet time of your life prior to getting married. If you're going to invest in documenting your wedding day, you should document the experience from beginning to end! Not to mention, these photographs can be used for so much from announcements, to save the dates, to heirloom photographs that you frame and display in your home. Think about the children, you two will one day have. How sepal will it be to share those photographs of the two of you, during this sweet season of life?
I choose to include engagement sessions in the Tierney Riggs Photography wedding experience because I truly believe it serves a vital role. It is beneficial to both the couple and the photographer, and an engagement session is loads of FUN!
