1. Savor it.
You just got engaged! Hooray! This is one of the biggest moments of your life! Soak it in and enjoy it with your brand new fiancé! I remember after Christopher proposed at Middleton Place in Charleston, we went back to the car and just talked for awhile. I like to hear the back end of things and all the details that when in to such a big moment. That time was so sweet!
2. Make a plan to tell your family and friends!
Decide how you want to tell your family and friends. Do you want to call people, meet them in person? Either way, they're going to be so very excited for you!
3. Make a budget.
As I'm sure you know already, weddings can get expensive very quickly. While you definitely want to have a celebration that friends and family will remember, make sure you and your spouse to be are on the same page. Have you been dreaming of top notch wedding photographs in your Vera Wang wedding gown. Is your groom excited about having an amazing reception? Talk about your top priorities as a couple and budget accordingly.
4. Don't get too caught up in the planning.
Once you move out of savoring territory and into the planning stages, it is very easy to become CONSUMED with the wedding planning. While it is definitely one of the biggest days of your life and deserves to be discussed, remember there is an entire marriage and life together after that day. Decide early on that you'll have date nights where you don't breathe a word about the wedding at all.
