We've all been there, scouring all the Pinterest boards with all the things to plan the perfect wedding. Don't get me wrong! I LOVE Pinterest! I used it to plan my wedding, I used it to learn photography, we wouldn't have yummy food on our table without it, and I'm sure one day when a baby Braddock enters the picture, we will use it to plan our dream nursery too. But Pinterest can be a double edged sword. Sometimes, we get caught up in having the perfect Pinterest wedding, that we lose a little bit of ourselves in all those mason jars, floral crown headpieces, and lace.
Regardless, each wedding is special whether you have mason jars wrapped in burlap or floral centerpieces so tall they could nearly touch the ceiling. While each wedding is special, not each wedding is tailored to show the couple's personality. If you want to infuse a bit of you and your fiancee's personality to where guests can't help but exclaim, "THAT'S SO THEM!" then stick around :)
1. INCOPORATE FAMILY HEIRLOOMS
It is so special to be able to bring along a piece of family history to your wedding day. Whether that means wearing a piece's of your grandmother's fine jewelry or whether that means using a piece of lace from your mother's 1980-fabulous wedding gown as a bouquet wrap. It's so sweet to carry along a piece of the people who made you into the person you are today on your wedding day!
2. INCORPORATE SPECIAL MEMENTOS
Is there a necklace or bracelet that your fiancé gave you for Valentine's Day one year while you were still dating? Wear it! Do you both have wanderlust? Name your table the name of a destination you have traveled to together instead of using numbers. The possibilities are truly endless with this one!
3. CHOOSE SPECIAL LOCATIONS
Where was your first date or first kiss? Where did you first say, "I love you." Incorporate these places into the wedding day or the engagement pictures at least. Maybe you don't want to drag the whole wedding party to a restaurant. Sure, that's understandable! But you could have your first look there! Is there a relatives home that you spent a lot of time at? Have the wedding there. Those sweet touches add up!
I hope these ideas are helpful to you! When we planned our wedding, having a day that was beautiful and personalized was such a big deal to us! When you look back at your wedding day, years from now, you'll like the gorgeous Pinterest-worthy wedding, but those sentimental touches are what will bring a smile to your face!
