Carrie and Nate met while they were both living in Washington DC through an online dating site. They went to trivia night for their first date ,and later got engaged while they were hiking in Virginia. Nate proposed with his nanny's wedding ring ( Yay for family heirlooms!). They were married in April 2015, and now they're embarking on the sweet journey of parenthood. Felicity's name is so special too as she is named for Carrie and Nate's grandparents. I love the sentiment of that!

I met Carrie and Nate through a past client of mine, so when they reached out about a lifestyle newborn session I was so stoked! Baby Felicity did an AMAZING job on her newborn session! She slept almost the entire time and was just way too cute!

Goal setting in Fuquay-Varina, NC

A couple of weeks ago, I shared a post about my 2018 Goal Setting. In that post I shared five out of my ten 2018 goals. Through a course I was taking for my business, I heard a statistic about the graduating class of 1979 at Harvard and their goal setting. Out of all the graduates, 84% had no goals at all. 13% had set written goals, but had no concrete plan. 3% had both written goals and concrete plans.

Years later, the 13% that had written goals ,but had no concrete plans were making twice as much as the 84% that had no goals at all. However, the 3% who had written goals were making ten times as much as the rest of the class. I am not a person to place a lot of priority on making oodles and oodles of money, but I do want to be successful. Everyone has a definition of success and a vision of what success looks like for them. For me that vision of success is having a close relationship with God and living a Christ-like life. Success means being able to provide for our family while still being  available to them. It means raising happy children and making memories. While I don't have children yet, I think it's important to lay the groundwork for this lifestyle now. All that to say, here are my 2018 goals :)

6. Worry less and live more

I worry....alot...about everything. I worry so much that at times, it inhibits my ability to enjoy the good moments of life. I tend to be a control freak and I have backup plans for my backup plans, but guess what? I can't control life. This year, I want to rest in my Savior and trust the plans He has for me instead of trying to control it all on my own. One thing 2017 taught me, His ways are wayyyyy better than my own!

7. Spend More Time with Family and Friends

Last year, when I was working full time, commuting, and trying to build my business it was all I could do to survive, much less spend time with the people that matter most. This year, I look forward to life with more balance. I want to cultivate sweet moments with family and friends that I can look back on and cherish when I'm 80. The hustle and bustle won't matter to me then, but the fond memories I have will.

8. Develop a Deeper Relationship with God

I want to do this by being more consistent in my devotions. My husband bought me this nifty Write the Word Journal that I have absolutely loved so far. I also want Christopher and I to have weekly devotions and prayer time together. We've always done our own thing, and I think this time together would be beneficial to our relationship with each other and with Christ.

9. Read 10 Business Books

I have done some research and started a list of these, if you have suggestions comment below please!

10. Declutter and Simplify Our Lives

This goal is one of the ones I am most excited about. In December, I started reading A Simplified Life by Emily Ley. I'm only three chapters in and this book has been amazing! So far, I've cleared out my master closet, sold or donated clothes that no longer fit, cleaned out our fridge, and cleaned out our pantry. I've worked to set up some simple organizational systems that give us minutes and seconds (hey, those add up!) back in our day. I'm very excited about taking on this goal in the new year.

Throughout the year, I will keep you posted as I use my power sheets to track my goals! I'm excited about living an intentional year rather than just letting life happen to me!

Last week, I had the privilege of taking newborn photos of baby Asher and his sweet family! These guys are familiar faces on the blog. In fact, you may have seen Jon and Kristen's Maternity session on the blog just a few weeks ago!

I have known Kristen just about my whole life, and we've been friends for that long! So seeing her with her husband and two boys is fun! What I love most about this session was the bond between Andrew and Asher. You can tell Andrew is crazy about his little brother and is gonna watch our for him. These two will definitely grow up to be best buds :)

Also, I want to mention keep Kristen's mom in your thoughts and prayers. Recently, her mom was diagnosed with a malignant, inoperable brain tumor. This is the sweetest family ,and I know they would appreciate your thoughts and prayers! Also, I'm going to leave a link to her fundraising page in case you are able to help financially.

Enjoy the photos from this sweet session!
