I suppose one could say I am biased on this topic, but I think it is one that needs to be discussed. Far too often, the wedding day passes and I'll hear friends, relatives, and brides say, "My one regret about our wedding is that I wish we would have gotten better photographs made." It really is true that "a picture is worth a thousand words." Especially on one of the biggest days of your life. Today, I am going to give you five reasons why wedding photography should be one of your main priorities when it comes to wedding plans.
1. YOU ONLY HAVE ONE SHOT
Your wedding day is something that comes around only once in your life. You wake up that morning and start preparing for the big day and before you even blink the day is over. There is SO much going on, on your wedding day that it can at times be difficult to focus in on the reality and depth of the decision you are making on that sweet day. It's easy to get distracted when your hair and makeup is taking longer then expected and you're running behind. It's easy to get distracted when your florist is stuck in traffic and your supposed to be taking bridesmaids pictures in 20 minutes. It's easy to get distracted period. So much is happening on your wedding day that at times it is hard to be truly present in the moment. Enter your photographer. We capture those little moments and details that comprise your wedding day in a way that tells your story over and over again. We give you the opportunity to relive that special day through photographs.
2. WE CAN CAPTURE RAW MOMENTS AS THEY UNFOLD
Emotions always run high on a wedding day. You are pledging your love and life to another person. Perhaps, you are moving away now that you will be married. Perhaps, you're just a sentimental person. As the day unfolds, so many beautiful moments will happen, but they are fleeting. A professional photographer is trained and ready to capture those moments as quickly and as beautifully as possible. Sure Uncle Bob or Aunt Nancy may have a nice camera, but are they able to use it quickly and efficiently? We know how the wedding day flows, so we're armed and ready at a moments notice for the unexpected happenings.
3. WE KNOW HOW TO PHOTOGRAPH A WEDDING
As professionals not only do we have nice equipment, but we know how to use it! On your wedding day you will experience many different lighting conditions from harsh 12 pm sunlight to a dark reception lit only by the DJ's lighting. Sure Uncle Bob may have a nice camera, but does he know how to use it? So many times, I hear brides let a family friend or relative with a nice camera shoot their wedding only to regret it because there pictures are blown and too bright, they're too dark, or they are just plain blurry and out of focus. Having a nice camera means nothing if you don't know how to use it in each and every possible situation.
4. WE HAVE AN EYE FOR DETAILS
You spend so much time planning the small details of your wedding day. Those DESERVE to be documented in their own way. Your photographer will be able to style your details beautifully. We know how to make your wedding look good!
5. THIS IS YOUR LEGACY
The wedding day is just day one of your many years together, but the photographs will be treasures you carry on to your 50th wedding anniversary and then some. One day your children will be looking at those wedding photographs and so will your grandchildren. What a special joy to be able to share that momentous occasion with them! You get to tell them all about your marriage- the joys and the hardships, and those wedding photographs are a picture of where it all began. Even when you are gone, they will have those precious photographs.
